Pick of the Poets Birthday Celebration

Thraves Thraveson's picture

The first time I saw and heard Katie Bonna performing was when she read one of her poems at Waterstone's Bookshop in the Arc in Bury St. Edmunds, the second was when a few days later I went to see a performance of 'The London Merchant' at the Theatre Royal where she played the maid, the joint female lead.

By then I was a confirmed fan of this wonderful actress and poet, and was delighted when she agreed to come and perform her poetry for us at Poetry Aloud.

She was the star turn at our recent 'Pick of the Poets' birthday celebration which was held at Benson Blakes on 26th April. Needless to say she didn't disappoint. And performed for us nine of her poems, including one that she had written on the train from London, the only one that she actually read, all the other were performed from memory.

It is hoped that we may be able to post some of these performances on our website http://poetryaloud.org.uk so it will be worth keeping an eye open when you visit the website for any of her poems/performances that appear. In addition to Katie, you will be able to hear all the other poems read on the evening by our own members and in most cases the same poems read by the poet who wrote it.

The next Poetry Aloud event will be on Tuesday May 31st in the Attic at Benson Blakes at 7:30pm when you will be able to hear a completely new set of poems.
