As Above So Below © 2008 Jackie Carreira
The depth of the regret commands the grief
Sweet, precious life, we held you much too brief
How spiteful short the time we thought we had
to work out how to taste the sane from mad
Or did we think we figured truth from lies,
Instead of looking out through twisted eyes?
Like children on a long, brave summer's day
had we the curiosity to play?
Like tokens in God's big, bewildering game
of endless repetition, endless pain.
Beyond the bruising, losing, eating chain,
mankind must fill some purpose, have some aim.
Or is it all too vast for us to know?
As above - so below.
As above - so below.
Or is it all too vast for us to know?
Mankind must fill some purpose, have some aim.
beyond the bruising, losing, eating chain,
of endless repetition, endless pain.
Like tokens in God's big, bewildering game
have we the curiosity to play?
Like children on a long, brave summer's day
Instead of looking out through twisted eyes?
Or did we think we figured truth from lies,
to work out how to taste the sane from mad
how spiteful short the time we thought we had
Sweet, precious life, we held you much too brief.
