The Angelic Father

I worship my father
That is about all you can do
When he is an angel
Which they are
When you only find out
Who your father is
Nine years after they died

But at least I can say
He never said a bad word about me
In fact he never mentioned me at all
As far as I can tell
And there was nothing I could say about him

Some would say
An angel wouldn't have
Abandoned their children
To never acknowledge them again
But what do they know?
Their father isn't an angel

Some would say
An angel wouldn't have
Spent time inside
For non-payment of debts.
They obviously know a lot more than I
About an angel's finances

Nobody knows an angel like I do
Half of me is an angel
Struggling to get out.
Half of me is dead.
But which half I don't know

So remember
Next time you meet an angel
They could well be someone's father.
Someone who could be looking for them
Someone
Who doesn't know
What an angel looks like
