Reading by Thraves Thraveson

Bring me starfish, coral, acorns, a cowrie,
flint once used as a weapon,
the footprints of ants, the trail of a snail,
the journey of a turtle hatched in sand.

Bring milk straight from the cow in a big glass jug,
a bouquet of grasses, daisies and buttercups,
the smell of my babies, scent of sea in the wind,
ribbons tied to the moon, stars attached to the ends.

Bring me a love spoon, moon dust, angel wings,
ostrich egg shells to burn candles in,
snowflake patterns, the dimple from your chin,
ink stained hands and incorrigible grin.

Bring paints and charcoal, pencils and brushes,
passion in splashes of crimson and yellow,
satin pillows, a martini with a strawberry,
rings from the trunk of a gnarled oak tree.
