We used to have a rabbit
Who would climb up on the shed
She was closer to the stars,
Or that is what she said.

She would roll a rabbit ear
Up like a telescope
And look out for green aliens
She hadn't got a hope.

Then one day she heard a whirring
From way up in the sky
She peered up through her telescope,
It was extremely high.

But it was getting closer,
Now she could see a light -
It was dazzling through her telescope,
It was so very bright.

She rolled up her other ear
To use as a megaphone
She shouted "Welcome, friends, to earth!"
But in rabbit-speak, you know.

She thought they would not hear,
The whirring was so loud,
So she waved her ears and flapped her arms
And jumped, first up, then down.

Then suddenly, surprisingly,
And with a blinding flash
The spacecraft landed in our garden
I'm pleased it didn't crash.

We are not sure what happened next,
Our bunny would not say
More than the spacecraft with the green cross on
Whisked my mum away

But she was back within the week
With my new baby brother
I wonder if the aliens
Gave him to my mother?

Now our bunny is a mummy too
With babies hopping round
But now and then she sits them still
And tells them of the day that the aliens came down.
