It is Whit Sunday morning,
and ‘Come Down O Love Divine’ is on the radio.
They sometimes listen to this programme,
tuning back through sixty years of unbelief
to Sunday School nostalgia; but today they turn it off,
for an accidental brush of skin against skin has led
to rediscovering the language of touch, and making love
has led to an unlocking of the language of speech,
and that is too precious a gift to put away quickly.
