In town today
I signed a Switch stub, Excellent,
settled a bill, Brilliant,
paid at the car park, Cool,
bought petrol with cash, Fantastic.

If only they had seen me
lope across the lawn
seven carriers in each hand
plucking roses with my teeth;
leap through the open window,
delighting on the cistern
with a tap routine;
chassé through the kitchen
fling-filing every item
in its cupboard as I went;
deposit blossoms, see above,
in best bone china;
slide up banisters
to debonairly place them
by belovedʼs bed;
moonwalk back,
re-heating morning coffee
with a cool and level stare;
fill in cryptic crosswords
with the left hand,
cook dinner with the right,
whilst phoning trenchant comments
to PMʼs anchorman;
then slip into something loose
to greet my love (again above)
when she came in.

Good day at home? Not bad.
