The inner man tends to remain younger than the appearance of the outer man.
Thankfully we now have the technology to image not only the outer man but also the inner man.

Inner ManOuter Man
Inner ManOuter Man

The inner man remaineth
While the outer man changeth
The inner man dreams of the future as
The outer man gasps a last
Pluperfect laugh

The inner man remaineth
The outer man distaineth
The pull of the callow
That withered his tallow
And rendered him drainèd

The inner man suffused with hope
The outer man buttressed by dope
Filled to the brim
Propped with such medicine
As stiffens resolve

The inner man remaineth
The outer man gaineth
In girth and in stature
Resisting the urge
Of the inner man's nature

The inner man remaineth
The outer man entertaineth
Some thought of return
To the urges that burn
In past perfect vein'th

The inner man pineth
The outer man reclineth
Relaxed and content
His energy spent
His vigour expirèd

The inner man remaineth
The outer man sustaineth
A chip on his shoulder
Because he is older
And now somewhat greyeth

The inner man remaineth
The outer man explaineth
From where he has gone
His return shall be long
And in the slow lanèth

The inner man remaineth
The outer man declaimeth
The wisdom of age
With simmering rage
At the price he has payeth
