instantaneous communication
round the world contacting,
local tweeps’ tweet-ups are
meetings of those behind the avatars,
surprisingly, in the flesh

Twestivals are well-meaning
charity-fundraising gatherings;
Haitian appeals from celebrities,
with thousands of followers
raising massive amounts of money

You know your news
before it is in the News
on Twitter,
your business prospers
promoted by Twitter,
you embarrass yourself on
and sometimes have to resign
because of Twitter

There are Twurches of England,
and Virtual Abbeys
holy smokes and church mice
saving the rhino and orangutang
You dont have to follow Stephen
or Mrs Stephen Fry
but yes perhaps @PoetryAloud
you do

and (purportedly) the Queen
or tweeps you like, like the comic
Miranda or Mitchell the cat
or to be challenged by Dawkins
or even Matt
There are Jesus Tweeters
& Tea Party Sarah Palin
tweeting against the Obamamosque

The world of humanity is here

on Twitter
Its an intricate network of those
who follow you and those you choose
to follow,
a veritable Twitterverse

Its addictive and can be surprisingly emotional
as when one evening
(or daytime depending where you were)
inspirational Donna I_Love Yeshua
dedicated music to her followers
before closing down her account
to go and work somewhere
unspecified, for “The Lord”;
her followers said “don't go”! and now they are left behind,
bereft, on Twitter
