The Seaside Today - Felixstowe

Come with me to the seaside today,
To watch the strong waves and taste the salt spray,
See foaming white bubbles rush to the shore,
Put a shell to your ear, can you hear the sea roar?

We'll walk on the causeway, no sand in our shoes,
Smell the fresh ozone, feel warmth on the nose,
See the wet seaweed clinging to woodwork,
Green and white seakale makes patterns like patchwork.

A red and white kite soars high in the sky,
Held by a long string and a happy young guy.
Surrounded by lupins, red poppies, pink mallow,
We pass by stone towers, their names are Martello.

A restaurant beckons, our taste buds are tickled,
Do you fancy smoked herrings, salted or pickled,
Crisp golden fried cod or Dover Lemon Sole
Served up with chips, or there's toad-in-the-hole?

We'll ride on a bus, feel the wind in our hair,
Buy Felixstowe rock when we get to the pier,
Laugh at the postcards, eat an ice cream,
And visit the folks playing bowls on the green.

The sun has now set and the sea's looking grey,
I hope you've enjoyed your outing today.
We make our way homewards, I'm sure you'll agree,
Arriving back home, we'll have a nice cup of tea.
