The Room's golden ratio makes it special
the Oak panelling cut from trees
tended by many generations of foresters
harvested, and seasoned for years
before being shaped into panels by craftsmen.

On the floor carpets
from traditional looms
jute from Dundee, cotton from the America's
the pile a blend of wool
from Scottish and New Zealand sheep

Oak tables hand crafted by cabinet makers
are covered by white linen cloths
adorned with polished silverware,
shapely crystal glasses
and gleaming china plates

On each table is a clear vase
which holds a perfect rose
I lift the rose
it has no smell
it is plastic.
