Though years have passed © 2008 Barry Gardner
They walk together arm in arm
She’s still got looks, he’s still got charm
Helping each other on their way
Though hills get steeper every day
They’ve seen it all now through the years
They’ve smiled and laughed, and shed some tears
But stood together hand in hand
Life’s tribulations to withstand
They’ve raised two children fine and strong
Been sure to teach them right from wrong
Whate’er’s beset them from life’s mill
Their love has drawn them closer still
In days gone by they liked to roam
But now they’re happier close to home
So don’t go far come rain or shine
They’ve go each other, life’s just fine
The local shops keep all they need
Their home to tend, their mouths to feed
Of course they’ve found increasing age
Brings difficulties stage by stage
But what to one is heavy weather
Is easier for two together
While furthermore they can rely
On family and friends nearby
They still have sex from time to time
And when they do it’s still sublime
The repertoire’s a bit diminished
One go at spoons and then they’re finished
Then with their ageing bodies spent
Entwined they fall asleep content
Perchance to dream of times they’ve had
The good so sweet outweigh the bad
So should they choose to muse whenever
They’ve memories to last forever
Who cares then if they’re old and grey?
Their love will never fade away
