When nothing is more than you deserve
And words are not enough
Four walls help me to survive
As I arrive at reality
Forgetting dreams of what might have been

Oh cruel world, full of deception
How will I rise up to face
The overwhelming truth
Of yesterday’s love
When the favourite songs
That meant so much
But now when heard
Bring tears from this bruised heart
As I try to pacify
Understand why
You don’t try
To conceal new love
As you wander the streets
Displaying your new trophy
With carefree abandon

Stopping to look away
Does little to reduce a pain
Like a lightening strike
Food has no place
As I seek refuge
In spirit that freely flows
To bring relief from constant suffering
But in time there’s no escape

Move on, move on I hear you cry
But is love disposable
To be discarded on some rubbish tip
Along with society’s failures
Tis true, it’s failed
Despite many one way attempts to resurrect

But real love is a one way street
Wide enough for two
As, with eyes engaging and hands firmly held
One makes the journey of a lifetime
Of sharing and giving
World’s most precious gift
The gift of love!
