these are a throng of extraordinary looking people
by no means all beautiful to my prejudiced eye
diverse to the limits imaginable
freaking out narrow minds
all breathing, some smiling
at least most mobile - they have to be, walking
at such a pace, as in a Lowry painting
some pulling luggage
many wearing rucksacks or carrying bags
- the baggage of everyday life -
as they ascend the escalator
how are their diverse lives, journeys,
progressing and towards what future?
