Bonds - Colin Whyles

No distance can sever the sinewed bonds
that stretch between two lovers' fingertips
or make their calls so faint neither responds
to gently kiss each other's quivering lips;

No touch can be too featherweight to send
electric messages to charge their veins;
No thought exchanged, or token swapped, will end
those beacon fires that, by turn, blaze. Remains

like ashes leave ingrained forensic trails
through coruscating, dancing, sparking skin;
Each insinuated touch never fails
to bring alive a Phoenix from within.

Once drawn together in magnetic pact
this fundamental force will not be cracked.
