Meat on the Slab for "Feathered Primates"

Squashed carcases scattered on the highway
provides welcome carrion to scavenge
nothing is wasted
if you're a crow, you just have
to step aside a bit
for passing cars
and not to become a meal for others

So much food laying around
there is such a thing as a free lunch
easy peasey
the slaughterʼs been done
spread out to peck and feast on
Like shelves at the supermarket
stacked with body parts

people visit for their tasty morsels
its all cut and packaged
you donʼt have to think where itʼs come from
its provided but not for free
customers hustling poring birdlike
for the choice bits
the effortʼs all in the back pocket.
